If you arrived at this page looking for a particular classical music piece so you could listen to it and find out what it sounds like, Tips for Searching for Music on the Internet has a list of websites and other resources that might help you find what you're looking for.

If you are searching for hard to find information about classical music or early 1900's popular music and you didn't find it here, that same Tips for Searching page might help you continue your search. Its sections are search engine tips, searching the "invisible" web, music search resources visible and invisible, and how to find album contents information, track timings, liner notes and background information, lyrics, scores and sheet music, audio files, music analysis, commentary and reviews, and where to identify the source of a classical music theme.

What is this page?

This set of web pages presents data from the RECORDS.MDB classical record collection database as CSV (Comma Separated Values) plain text. It has the contents of record albums, record company ID#s, and my brief reviews and comments about the composers, compositions, and performances.

If this jumble of text looks like the type of information you were looking for, this 420 KB file tracksforbrowsingandsearching.zip has the information from all these pages neatly formatted into a single table. The full unzipped table is nearly 7 MB, too big to put on a single web page because no one would wait for it to load. Unzip it and open the .htm file with your browser.

The project download section of RECORDS.MDB has this data in a tab delimited plain text format that should import properly into Excel or other spreadsheet or database programs. Lastly, if you download the RECORDS.MDB database itself, all this data is in it.
