A simple Microsoft Access phonograph record or CD collection database

MyRecords.mdb is a relatively simple Microsoft Access 2.0 and 2003 database for an LP record or CD collection.

Each record in the database corresponds to an entire album, not to an individual song or track.

Its tables are:

  • MyRecords - The records table.
  • KeepCodes - Numeric "keep" (priority) codes with their text descriptions.
  • WhoseCodes - Current or previous owner initials and their names.

Fields of the MyRecords table:

You can easily delete any fields that are no use to you.

Discard Temporary use, for culling.
RecNo Record number assigned, its order in the collection
Artist Band or performer, soloist, conductor, orchestra.
Composer+Title Album title, or composer(s) and composition titles.
Whose Who it does, or did, belong to, or who I got it from.
Kp Desirability of keeping, for any reason. KeepCodes table has the codes list.
V Whether I have verified the keep code recently.
Comments My comments about the album or recording.
--------- Only the Access 2003 version has these additional fields, plus some queries that I used when making decisions about selling records on eBay:
Orig Liner Whether this record has its original liner.
LinerDesc The record company on this record's liner (to assist with matching records with liners).
HD On Hard Disk?
eBay Price at which it has sold on eBay.

The zip file myrecordsmdb.zip (about 42 KB) contains both the Access 2.0 and Access 2003 versions.

For a classical music collection or a collection that you want to itemize by song or track, or if you want to scan album cover information into the database, there is a more capable RECORDS.MDB.
