This thread was created for comments or questions about my blog article "Using Intel 537EP 56K dialup modem in Ubuntu Linux 9.04 Jaunty ", which describes how I discovered that the "8086:1009" subsystem of my 537EPU software modem worked with the standard 537EP Ubuntu modem driver although it was not listed as a supported type and the scanModem program could not detect its chipset.

(wvdialconf), wvdial, and GnomePPP could not use the modem to connect to my ISP, but (pppconfig), pon, and poff can.

Feel free to start a new topic, if you prefer.

Let me say that I´m still trying to make work this old win-modem....

I got a Debian w/ a 2.6.18 Kernel.

And, when i try to install
intel-537EP_secure-2.60.80.0_07_05_2007
downloaded from linmodems.technion.ac.il (or that´s what it seems), then I get an error like

Autoconf.h not found
Install Kernel Source

And I do have LINUX-SOURCE installed .... I know that links included in configuration files are wrong, but doesn´t seem to be proper to edit just from the scratch....

Anyway, any comment may be useful ; Regards.
