Hello, and welcome to the discussion forum!

Guests can browse the boards and read messages.

Please note: the forum pages only work properly if your browser allows session (temporary) cookies from 25yearsofprogramming.com. If your browser is set to block all cookies, you'll get a "403 - Forbidden" error on some pages. This is a security measure. In an indirect way, it allows me to better protect this site. In a direct way, it protects visitors from something known as "session hijacking". Cookies are more secure than the "PHP session" alternative that is used when cookies are blocked. Temporary (session) cookies are deleted when you close your browser.

Registering allows you to post messages, vote in polls and view the results, ask questions, and use the chat room. Registration is quick and easy. A confirmation email is sent to the email address you provide, and your registration is complete after you respond to the email to confirm that you are the person who owns that email address. By default, your email address is hidden from other forum users (even though you see it yourself).

In your user Profile, you can choose a screen name to use in the forum (which can be different from the name you registered with), and set various other options.

Did you find this site because you're looking for the answer to a question?

Search engines sometimes send people to pages that are related to their question but that don't provide the facts they were looking for.

When I notice that happenening here, I usually revise the page to answer the question, but by then it's too late to answer it for the person who found no answer and left.

So feel free to ask your question in the forum. There is usually a lot more knowledge to draw upon than just what is on a web page.

I get an email when someone posts a message to any board, so there's a good chance you'll get a reply in a short time.

I hope I have this in the right section:  general subjects.

I've been exploring this site, and on the Sitemap I found two articles of great interest.  They are brilliantly written--that is to say, articulate and logical.

One is on the Origins of Religion.  (I especially liked the insight about "intermittent reinforcement."

The other is on the Art of Life. Profound and certainly of interest to anyone bogged down by the "mass" of everyday living and its burdensome trivia and demands.

Bravo!

Mr. Steve Whitney,

I did not know who you were yesterday,
But I will always remember your name tomorrow.

I just found, read and put into play your article about
getting rid of tracking cookies.

It worked like a charm. You are a god among men.

I truly thank you and keep up the excellent work on this site.

Very appreciative,
Randy Babi
