This thread is for reader comments about the blog article "How to use IRC chat for a website chat room".

It describes the security vulnerabilities that can be introduced by some of the most common chat solutions and tells why, at least from the standpoint of some of the security issues, a real IRC chat room might be preferable.

You can start a new thread, if you prefer.
