Typical terms of sale for my eBay auctions
This is the template for payment and shipping terms for most of my eBay auctions.
It gives an idea what the terms most often are, but they are sometimes
customized for individual auctions, so the terms on this example page are not
necessarily the exact ones used for any specific auction.
Payment methods I accept, must be in $US:

Shipping:
- At the current time, I ship only to locations within the USA.
- I will combine items if it is practical. I will also omit from a shipment
any included items that you don't want. Please ask before paying, to get the
revised shipping cost.
- If you purchase insurance and the shipment is lost or damaged, I will
cooperate fully in the claim.
- If you do not purchase insurance and the shipment is lost or damaged, you
agree that the loss is entirely yours.
- In your decision about insurance, use your judgment based on the value of
the items being shipped and your experience of how often these types of
losses occur.
- USPS items insured for $50 or less don't require a delivery signature.
Items insured over $50 do.
- Media Mail is Book Rate. The Post Office has told me that it is handled
in their Parcel Post system.
- UPS (United Parcel Service) cannot deliver to P. O. Box addresses.
You may return this item for a refund:
- If the item or its condition or operability fails to match its auction
listing description in a way that is not trivial, you may return the item
for a full refund, as long as it arrives here in the same condition as when
I shipped it.
- If the item is damaged in transit due to a packaging error such that it
could not withstand the minor bumps and jostling of normal transport, you
may return the item along with its original packaging for a full refund.
This does not cover carrier mishandling, evidenced by package damage. Only
purchased shipping insurance covers that.
- If you return the item for a reason other than any fault of mine, the
refund will be for your winning bid amount, reduced by my costs incurred by
the transaction. Shipping charges will not be refunded or reimbursed. If the
calculated refund would be less than or equal to $0, a return will not be
allowed.
- If you paid by PayPal, refund is by PayPal. If you paid by another
method, refund is by USPS Money Order.
- To return this item for any reason, you must request a return
authorization by email within 3 days of receiving it.
To the auction winner:
- Payment due in 7 days.
- I won't usually send an invoice, because the total depends on your
Checkout choices.
- The Pay Now button is Checkout, where you calculate the total and
choose how to pay. You can go to PayPal from Checkout, but you don't have
to. Your Checkout choices are sent to me in an email. Please use Pay Now
for all payments, including mailed ones.
- For PayPal, shipment will be to your
Confirmed Address that PayPal sends to me. If you want shipment to a
different address, just use a different payment method.
- There is no grace period beyond the 7 days if I haven't heard from you.
- Other questions? Email me anytime.
Images
Flat items are imaged using a handheld scanner. The scanned strips are merged
into a single image, not always successfully. Some images (it's usually easy to
tell which ones) wind up looking a bit strange as a result of this cutting and
pasting.
Photo tip: If you temporarily copy an auction image to your local computer as
a .bmp and open it with a picture viewer such as Windows Picture And Fax Viewer,
you can zoom in on it a bit. (This might in theory pose a potential security
risk, but it's a handy technique if your computer is protected.)
